An open-world RPG following up on The Witcher 3, The Witcher 4 is one of the many highly anticipated games by CD Projekt Red. It is announced to be in development while the others being a remake of Witcher, a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, and a new AAA RPG trilogy. Scheduled to follow up on one of the greatest RPGs we’ve witnessed in some time from the same creator that also gave us Cyberpunk 2077. The Witcher 4 is one of the 50 most highly awaited games we have to anticipate, let alone one of the largest new game productions in development.
In this blog we will discuss what we know about this game so far:
Trailer
The Witcher 4 trailer is a cinematic masterpiece that does an excellent job of establishing atmosphere for the new game. Unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, the clip depicts Ciri wreaking havoc on a village hell bent on sacrificing a young woman. The teaser is typical moody atmosphere fare as well as a rather epic battle sequence between Ciri and a beast as our fresh new Witcher.
Gameplay
The Witcher 4 gameplay will give a similar vibe of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, there may be some differences. The gaming lovers are going to be back on the continent. CDPR is aiming for a darker, more violent dark-fantasy world. With Ciri at the forefront as she attempts to tread the Witcher’s path as the old world burns around her.
The studio already announced that The Witcher 4 is a single-player RPG in an open-world setting. Where you have greater freedom to make decisions and deal with the repercussions.
Combat
The Witcher 4 will let Ciri embark on an important journey. You dot have to be afraid of not a being a veteran. That will be translated into combat encounters in The Witcher 4, with Ciri potentially not always beginning with the advantage in combat encounters but always with the potential to get the better of her opponents by attacking at the right moment.
Story
The story surrounding The Witcher 4 is yet to be revealed. However, CD Projekt RED has set the new adventure quite innovatively. In this open-world, single-player RPG you’ll be playing as Ciri when she begins her career as a monster slayer – as she begins walking the Witcher path for the first time.
Main Character
The main protagonist of the Witcher 4 is Ciri. She is the adopted daughter of Geralt. The story of the Wild Hunt is almost complete. It is time to welcome a new Witcher to make their mark upon the Continent. CD Projekt Red is eager to point out the contrast between the two characters.
Open World
The developer CD Projekt Red assures the gaming lovers that it will be one of their most ambitious projects. A new protagonist means a new world to explore. Therefore, the studio is already hinting at a much darker fantasy world.
Engine
Unreal Engine 5 will be used for the development of The Witcher 4. It happens to be one of the most advanced game CD Projekt is working on till now. Expectations are generally higher. The result is mesmerizing, though it must be said that The Witcher 4 cinematic trailer is not real-time rendered, but has been driven by the same tech driving the game. It will give you a clear picture of what to expect from the finished product
Did Geralt die in The Witcher 3?
There are a number of ending options left in the Witcher 3. We may see Geralt planning to retire with Triss and go to Kovir. Another alternative can be eloping with Yennefer. So perhaps we’ll see some familiar, old faces then. Voice actor Doug Cockle has committed to The Witcher 4, so we do at least know that Geralt will be in the game somehow. Whether that’s as a living character or as a flashback remains to be seen, however.
What is the Release Date?
It seems that gaming lovers will have to wait for the important news to reveal for the latest open-world RPG. Moreover, there is no clear indication of what platforms it will be coming on. Waiting for the game to release soon?
Hold your breath and wait for the next update!
